This historical 3'x5' Great Star flag is digitally printed on our 200 denier nylon fabric. The flag is finished with a strong white polyester canvas heading and two brass grommets for easy attachment to your flagpole.
In 1818, five stars were added to The American Flag to account for the five newest states added to the union. At this time, it was determined that the number of stripes for the flag would remain at the original 13, while the star field would represent the total number of states. While linear arrangements of stars were far more common, unique arrangements also existed, including this "Great Star" arrangement. The "Great Star" would continue to be seen again throughout US history for different numbers of stars, as would other unique arrangements.
